Picture Disscusion
- This picture portrays a few young age children working under harsh conditions. From the colour of the skin, we could easily know that they are Africans as Africa is one of the developing countries.
- The surrounding area is filled with stones and also the weather must be really hot because the ground is dry and barely have enough trees for them as to act as covers for them to work.
- The girl of the left hand side is holding a hammer and hitting against the stone. By looking at the size of her, she ought to be studying at school but she is working in this harsh conditions where the sun is burning hot and dry and filled with stones. i believe that she came out to work such a young age because she might be the oldest in the family and earn income for household expenses.
- She is also wearing old sleeveless t-shirt and torn skirts and maybe fortunate that she has a pair of slippers to wear. Looking at her size, she might not be well fed as she is very skinny.
- Not far away from her, there is also two other boys by the side, i think that is her younger siblings. As their family is poor, unable to employ workers, thus, children at their young have to help their parents to earn income rather than studying.
- We are consider fortunate to be in Singapore rather than those developing countries. Singapore is a developed country in the world, we should thank that we are able to learn through the education from school and not like them which they have to work at such a young age.
- The only thing that we can help them is by donating our books, which allows them to read it, or even money for them to have nice meals to eat and clothes to wear. We should never despise on those people, it is not easy for them to endure in that kind of conditions.
- Despite their hardships, they had never grumble, unlike us. We even grumble that food is not nice where they do not even have food to eat. We even grumble the clothes that are making us look ugly and uncomfortable which they do not even have a chance to look at nice clothes but just wear old cloth that is wrap around their bodies.
- In conclusion, we should thank that we are born in Singapore where we do not have to worry about our meals and the clothes needed. If we are able to help them, do help them as they are not as fortunate as us.
