Selfishness & Helplessness.

This picture depicts a scene after a natural disaster. I think this might be a scene after an earthquake. The buildings around look destroyed and old, many people were at the scene wearing ponchos or taking umbrella when this picture was taken. Many can be seen lying on the ground, most probably because they were unable to move, or disabled due to the earthquake. On the bottom right hand corner, I can see a person wrapped in a bleach colour cloth. There’s a high possibility that the person is already dead, probably his/her body had been taken out from the actual place where buildings collapsed.
Another lady lying on some mat at the foreground can be seen holding can umbrella. Her family members might not have found her and she was rescued out as her clothes have mud and sand stains. Her legs might have been disabled as she is just lying there and not moving, if she had the ability to move around, I believe she would not have just laid there and holding an umbrella to cover the upper part of her body. Around her are other people who were too, lying on the ground not moving except holding and umbrella above their body, the umbrellas might have been given to them by some other kind souls as they would not have found umbrellas, in such good conditions at the earthquake scene.
On the top right hand corner, a group of people can be seen walking towards a certain direction, they might be walking towards a place to get medical help or walking towards temporary shelters to stay for the time being. They’re all holding umbrellas or wearing ponchos, I suppose all these have been provided by the team of rescuers who went to aid in the earthquake.
I think that those people should help to move the others lying on the ground, unable to move, to the shelter or the medical team, it is pretty selfish of them to just fend for themselves and ignore the misery of the rest as they were unable to move. They could have just asked the medical team to go over to the injured ones, but in the scene, no paramedics could be seen and thus, I conclude that those people have just been left there with umbrellas by themselves.
There’s a guy on the top right hand corner of the picture, holding a black umbrella, looking at the helpless ones lying on the ground, I suppose he’d felt sorry for them as the expression on his face was not very pleasant.
Smoke can be seen on the top left hand corner, it might have been produced due to the cement and sand, buildings collapse in the earthquake. The person in brown near the smoke might be using his/her hand to fan the smoke away.
Looking at this picture, I see helplessness of the disabled people, and also, selfishness of those who are still alive and kicking. They should not be so self-centered, if they could help out, they might just save a life or two. And the family members of those people will certainly be grateful to the life-savers.
I also think that other countries who don’t experience earthquakes should be glad and grateful, or else those pitiful people they see in the pictures could just be them the next time. We should realize how fortunate we are to be living in a safe place without earthquakes, as these natural disasters can just take away many lives.
We should also always cherish what we have in our life or it will be too late for regrets when we finally realized how important certain things are to us, but those things are lost forever already.
