Water Crisis

This picture depicts a scene a people collecting water from their water source, which is the white box in the contre of the picture. From the picture, i can infer that this country is less developed and water is a problem to the people living there. The water is being poured into that white box and the residents collect the amount of water they need directly from it. The people store their water into containers or buckets. In my opinion, i feel that collecting and storing water this way is extremely unhygenic and dirty. You never know whether the authorities who placed the water there, had had the water purified and clean before presenting it to the public. If not, the people are actually consuming water that is full of bacteria and it may lead to water prone diseases, affecting the health of the people. Since the country is so poorly developed, vaccination and medication aid would be a problem and thus causing the situation to remain grim.

In the centre of picture, there is man wearing a cap. He is filling the container with water. He has placed another container at the mouth of the white container, before pouring the water through. I believe that is a filter to separate bigger dirt particles in the water. I feel that it is an appropiate way to do so to make drinking water at least cleaner than before. In such countries, not many people are educated and they don't have much knowledge. Hence, i feel that other residents should follow suit to what can be better for them.

At the back of the picture, there are a few shophouses. I think that the people living there most probably get their daily neccessities from there. Living in such a poor country where the people can afford much things, i am sure that the shop tenants too have to survive on meagre pay. From this, i can infer that majority of the people living in the country have to struggle through their livelihood. Hence, while we are living comfortably, we should try our best to help those who are in need.

In addition, the current situation in the picture could be due to a cut off of water supply and the people had no choice but to resort to these water.

I guess that the intention of the photographer is to nudge those living at the other end of the whole, basking in a luxurious life, that at there are people however, worry about each and everyday, pondering about where to get money to feed the family, how to improve their life condition, while they do not have to fret a single day about tomorrow. The sick can only wait upon their deathbed without any hope of cure, when the rich people can easily go through medication and dialysis. Therefore, we should not take the things around us for granted because there are others who can never experience it in their whole life.
